The Research Administration and Management Strategy Group provides technical and consultative services to research institutions including: academia, research hospitals, government agencies, non-profit organizations, and technology-based businesses. Services are focused on strengthening the infrastructure that supports the research enterprise. The RAM Strategy Group is committed 1) to assist in strategically positioning institutions to grow their research program, 2) to assist in managing and streamlining basic and clinical research administration operations, 3) to identify potential regulatory compliance issues, 4) to aid in ensuring that intellectual property is identified, reviewed, protected and commercialized and 5) thus to seek to reduce your operational costs and potential liabilities, while allowing researchers to perform their research. General Research Administration
- Strategic planning, implementation and evaluation for research growth,
- Assess and support the entire spectrum of research operations, including:
- Review of sponsored projects office work flow and operations to improve efficiency.
- Identify funding opportunities.
- Assist in applying for external support.
- Assist in securing awards and negotiation of contracts.
- Assist in research data management and reporting.
- Review of data bases and make recommendations on software.
- Review and develop research administration policies and procedures.
- Develop and provide training in research administration.
- Provide interim leadership while your institution recruits senior research leaders such as Vice Presidents for Research, Associate Vice Presidents, and Directors.
- Manage the entire research administration program for small organizations.

Clinical Trials
- Review and develop policies and standard operating procedures for clinical research.
- Review the clinical trial infrastructure and make recommendations to streamline operations.
- Review your human subjects protection program and institutional review board (IRB) for compliance with FDA and Office of Human Research Protections regulations.
- Assess pharmacy’s research operations including: training, safeguards for the receipt, storage, distribution, disposal and documentation for the use of experimental drugs.
- Assess your institution’s operations including: training, and safeguards for the receipt, storage, distribution, return and documentation of usage of experimental medical devices.
- Work with your staff to develop a market strategy to promote your clinical research site to pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies.
- Provide training programs in clinical research for physicians, clinical research coordinators, and others.
Technology Commercialization
- Educate researchers in the basics and importance of intellectual property protection.
- Establish an institutional framework for a Technology Transfer Office
- Develop intellectual property policies and procedures.
- Work with researchers to prepare invention disclosures.
- Triage invention disclosures to select the most promising technologies.
- Work with patent attorneys to prepare patent applications.
- Develop a marketing strategy for individual technologies.
- Negotiate license or option agreements.
- Identify venture funding.
- Assist in mergers and acquisitions.
- Assist small research based companies to apply for SBIR or STTR research funding and to understand federal regulations and federal contracting requirements.
- Work with your institution to demonstrate to state and federal government offices and legislatures how your technologies contribute to the economic development.
